Musical, inspired, and passionate – that’s how she sees herself.
Born and raised in Switzerland, Marlin also has roots in Guinea and Hungary. Her diverse family background sparked a love for music and performance early on. Her father introduced her to some of the best R&B, hip-hop, and reggae from the ’90s, with artists like Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Usher, and Bob Marley shaping her musical taste. She loved singing karaoke as a child. Her favorite song was "No One" by Alicia Keys.
In 2015, Marlin joined a school choir project, where performing solos revealed her passion for singing in front of an audience. This experience solidified her desire to pursue music. During high school, she took individual singing lessons and began writing her own lyrics.
Her first EP, 688, was a collaborative project with her long-time friend and producer Gabiga, released in 2019 under the name "Ozyah." This debut led to her first performances in Zurich, Aarau, and Baden. By 2022, she released her first single, More, under her own name, gaining airplay on Swiss radio.
Marlin’s music reflects the hardships and joys of life, with vulnerability being a cornerstone of her lyrics. She values authenticity and naturalness, both in her music and her appearance.
Her unique sound has caught the attention of prominent radio stations such as SRF Virus, Couleur 3, RTS La 1ère, and Global Soul Radio, earning her opportunities to open for artists like Dillon Cooper, Nativ & Pablo Nouvelle, and Naomi Lareine.
In April, Marlin was part of the Mountain Academy at Zermatt Unplugged, where she performed two showcases. During the summer, she took the stage at Festivals like the Gurtenfestival and Lake Live Festival. Most recently, she had the incredible opportunity to be part of the Montreux Jazz Residency. Surrounded by world-class musicians and mentors, she immersed herself in diverse activities that provided invaluable insights and new perspectives.
Her upcoming debut EP, New Her, which will be released in the beginning of 2025, is a deeply personal exploration of her journey through a toxic relationship. Produced by Gabiga, the EP blends R&B and pop, drawing inspiration from artists such as Masego, Anderson. Paak, Greentea Peng, and Jorja Smith. Through her vulnerable lyrics and authentic sound, Marlin aims to create a space for listeners to reflect on their own emotions.
