To Swiss-Palestinian Pop musician Jamila, making space for vulnerability and self-reflection is the whole point of songwriting. She became interested in music at a young age but for a long time she found it difficult to imagine her songs living anywhere else other than in the safe space of her bedroom. It was only recently that she found the courage to invite others in and share her music. Drawing inspiration from songwriters such as Holly Humberstone and Gracie Abrams Jamila captivates her audience with her dreamy guitar sound and poetic directness. Authenticity is always at the heart of her songwriting: Jamila‘s diary-like lyrics often feel like a spontaneous confession - honest, unfiltered and full of urgency.
Since her debut in April 2023 Jamila’s music has been picked up by Swiss national radio numerous times and the singer has graced some of Switzerland's most renowned festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, Gurtenfestival, m4music Festival and joined the Zermatt Unplugged Mountain Academy.
In 2025, Jamila was selected as one of Spotify’s Artists to Watch and her new EP ‘Boyfriend Of The Year’ will be released on April 2nd via Young and Aspiring.
