Mapplewhite is a band which was established in Leysin in June 2006. The band exists of four nationalities: the drummer, David from France, solo guitarist/songwriter, Alvaro from Columbia, rhythmic guitarist/songwriter, Ian from Canada and pianist/songwriter, Nadia from Holland. They basically started playing songs written by Alvaro and later on they started to work out songs from the others as well.
Somehow the band was very lucky to play its first life radio gig for radio Chablais in the third week of June, just after three weeks of making music together. There they played four songs called: ‘Dawn, The long path, I'm single and Fire in the city’ The long path has been passing through the radio during the whole summer season.
In August there was the big festival in Avenches 'Rock Oz Arènes', where big artists such as: Texas, Radiohead and Jamiroquai gave a big show in the arena, besides there were numerous less famous artists playing on smaller stages. Mapplewhite found itself the hotel de ville in Avenches where they were able to show the updated play list. They played in the hotel de ville during all the five days of the festival. They added songs called: ‘Revolution 777, Nature of reality’ and two Spanish songs ‘La paz and No me digas nada’.
After August Mapplewhite mainly played several gigs in its home village Leysin. Next to that they are working on an EP with four songs. In the meantime they just enjoy the power of their inspiration.
