"Meet Hearts and Knives"
Hearts and Knives began life as a quintessential garage rock trio with exceptional songs, but soon after the hasty release of their first handmade EP, the band developed a more concentrated, urgent aesthetic. The result was "A Small Price To Pay", another four-song EP, recorded during Christmas '09 and finally available through the band's website.
The real cause for celebration, however, is Hearts and Knives' debut album, set to be released on March 19th (Cartoon Heroes / Irascible distribution). Recording sessions took place last September at StarTrack studios in Schaffhausen, where the band was able to work together with the one & only GUZ (Aeronauten, Guz & die Avarells). The result is exactly what a debut should be: fully-formed, markedly individual, and dripping with emotion. You could call it some kind of mission statement or manifesto if it wasn't such a captivating record.
