There is a feeling we all know that underlies Gabriel Benedek's music. A feeling, or, more precisely, a longing, that describes the basic mood and his motivation, his character. It not only expresses itself through the music that the 31-year-old Basel resident, whose taste in music ranges from electronic music to rock to hip-hop, has been creating for more than half his life. It is also assuaged by it to quite a large extent. His songs, which have already found an international fan base on their own and, with "Leila" in 2020, brought him a hit streamed in the millions, offer a home in this very feeling, this longing.
It is a longing for lightheartedness, for a life without major obligations. After experiences of nature, after an infinite amount of time, after the opposite of everyday life, after fully savouring human warmth. A longing that will probably always remain utopian. It is found in every note of Gabriel Benedek's unmistakable, smoky voice. In love ballads and danceable numbers that address freedom, euphoria and distant places and always have a poetic depth, which you may very well not even discover until the second or third listen. And it thereby produces vibrations that resonate in each and every one of us – the way that only outstanding pop music can. Because we all know that feeling. Now, as a new signing with Universal Music Switzerland and with a whole backpack of new songs, he is getting ready to present his music to an even wider audience.
