After several stage experiences at the helm of pop-rock groups - two decades wide-ranging music - Alex is forging a new path under the pseudonym Alex ASH.
Alex honed his skills in piano and song at the Conservatory in Geneva, a city with a reputation as a fertile ground for artistic creation. He then indulges the musical stages of the region with different musical projects ... But, what could be better than an almost solo musical project to be able to communicate and share freely? Alex ASH responds with a much-anticipated release, "First", his first solo EP.
One year later, just as motivated, Alex ASH presents "#2". The concept is identical: 1 original composition and 5 songs near and dear to the musician’s heart, drawn from a contemporary repertoire then crushed and re-sculpted into a new cocoon. This new color palette is also the work of his two acolytes in music production and mixing, Lucien Leclerc and Thomas Gaillard.
Parasite Eve from Bring Me The Horizon is perhaps the most current and mystifying cover. Written and recorded during the first wave of the pandemic, it evokes the anxiety of our frail beings in the face of an unprecedented situation: "Don’t call it a warning, this is a war". You have been warned. Gem of musical production evolving in a disturbing vocal universe, Parasite Eve is caught in a futuristic cyber-electro-punk wave.
Less punk, but more joyful, Alex ASH calls on French and friend singer Micki Sobral to deliver an adaptation of the chorus from Gavin James’s 2018 song, Always. The production commandeered Annecy producer Ben Lemonz for this track, and he shines in a fast-paced finale edging towards EDM. The Genevan is also tackling the very current Machine Gun Kelly with I Think I’m Okay, in a pop register that is more urban than house.
Opposite, the first single released in spring 2020, owes its original version to Biffy Clyro. It is brought to the screen by an imposing music video made in March 2020 in a Geneva on the verge of confinement. Simple and rich, this cover takes the same path, paved with contemporary pop sounds and often refined instrumentation. Electronic percussions and synth pads rotate around the piano vocals in Opposite.
The Hype by Twenty One Pilots, second single already released from the EP, hooks up with a Generation Z-style chorus. A new life for this catchy and smiley pop composition: a deep and generous kick, precise electronic percussions, heavy piano which dictates the rhythm. The dynamic of the new arrangements, intoxicating, gives it a solid groove, like a pulse, a second wind.
“#2” is punctuated by Influences. The subject is dark, but the message is positive. This original and autobiographical composition echoes Lift Off, from the first EP. In the shoes of one who is going through a tragic situation, the memory of the other is brought back to us every day. He lives in us, in our memories. All his influences. A title with a positive breath. Bon voyage.
